This week has been a wild one!
So I decided to blog about it.
I had a blast working Monday-Friday, screen printing at the shop and let me tell ya! This new job I have been working for almost a year is a game changer. I've been less depressed. I've been getting better every day thanks to my friend and mentor Pete Hrinko. This dude is a beast. A great teacher as well. I get to work side by side with my good friend and fellow musician Kyle Curtis of Legbone!! (Dayton based punk rock since the 90's). It is genuinely a great time.
On Wednesday I played as part of the 1 year celebration of my good friend Luke Hummel's monthly artists circle at the legendary State Theater in Springfield,Ohio. I was in a round with some top notch players. Joshua Freshour threw down some killer Midwest emo style acoustic jams! Kyleen Downes was amazing as always as well. She is such an inspiration. I look up to her as a musician and a fellow open mic host.
Thursday Katrina Jo and I hosted another round of our weekly open mic night at the amazing Station! I played an acoustic set and hung out with my friends... I may or may not have had a few adult beverages.
Friday my band Brothers Pennington hosted our monthly open mic at Belmont Billiards. This event is picking up! it's always a good time but lately the brothers have been pulling in some interesting acts!
Saturday I was off work but we Dirty Buggars and Katrina Jo hit the road to Kokomo, Indiana. It was a rainy 3 hour drive. We played at OutHouse Records- a cool spot with a rad stage, killer sound guy and a few free arcade games. We unfortunately had to hit the road shortly after we played to make it back to Springfield.
Shout out to all of my homies that came out to support me at any of the above listed events. I got more coming. I will try my best to keep up with blogs for those who are interested.
Thanks for reading. -Mike D
