This That Will Come

By Mike Defendant (10-9-22)

As blue as a fair summer sky,

Waiting for this endless night to pass by.

Tomorrow's troubles await.

They stand in my path like a well armored gate.

Constantly hanging around, this that will come is bringing me down.

It's all uphill from here, I'll keep from the cold with my blanket of fear.

Trapped, I stay here confined.

Locked in this prison that is my own mind.

If I could find peace, I might be ok. But its darkness that comes at the end of each day.

This absence of light fills me with dread, I cannot take another step that's ahead.

It's too dark to get away now, I'll sit and I'll hope to be saved some how.
