Mike Defendant reviews the 10,000 Bird Skeletons demo!
Hailing from Cleveland, 10,000 Bird Skeletons are a Ska-core/Punk band that absolutely rips (and I'm not just saying that because they sent me free merch. haha). This demo is one amazing debut to the scene.
I've been listening to this one like crazy and I enjoy it every time. Here's what I have to say about a few tracks from it!
The first track is called "Bulletproof" and it starts with a blast and very quickly builds up to a killer guitar solo! That energy sets the mood for the entire demo. Its in your face and aggressive. A true call back to old skool hardcore and 90's street punk. I really dig this track.
The 2nd track "To Be A Cultist" brings more of an evil ska feel. Everyone in this band is solid and they all sound tight, but I definitely can't go without spotlighting the bass work in this song! From start to finish, my dude is shredding like an absolute mad man!
Track 3 " Stuck in my own head" takes off like a rocket! fast guitars, fast drums, fast vocals! There is also a really cool breakdown/guitar solo that will melt your face. This song makes me want to jump on a skateboard and cruise as fast as I possibly can.
You can absolutely feel the work that these guys put into every song. Every breakdown, every solo, every lyric is carefully crafted and it shows!
I have yet to catch them live but I will be seeing them ASAP! I highly recommend doing the same.
The demo closes with the song "Imagine"...
This album does not end on a slow note. It continues to exert so much energy that I can feel the sweat drip from the foreheads of the band members! One of my favorite bands around Ohio right now. Punks not dead as long as these dudes are doing the thing.
